I am trying to understand and compare 2 technology for my DR planning. They are
- Dell Live Volume
- SQL High Availability
Dell Live Volume provides a solution to the situation where storage in main data center fails. The storage manager will detect the failed storage and activate the DR site to become a primary site. The server (virtual or physical) would not notice anything since it is all handled at a storage controller lever. During the non-DR period, just like SQL HA, all the transactions towards database/storage will be replicated to DR site. Of course, the live volume also provides synchronous and asynchronous replication.
Seems like these two solutions are trying to do a similar task. I am trying to find a starting point of comparing them. What factors should I consider? What would you like to find out if you have those 2 options in...
