Pulling my hair out on this one.
New Hyper-V VM Server 2016 STD w/gui with new install of MSSQL 2017. Default install w/ database engine only, no additional features selected. All install settings were left default except location of data on different drive.
Selected Windows Authentication and added a domain security group (SQLAdmin) as user.
SQLAdmins security group contains domain administrators & administrators groups as well as a vendor support user
Opened Hyper-V manager on host, logged into windows with mydomain\administrator account. (no issues) then opened MSSQL Mgmt Studio and tried to connect to the sqlsever with same account with Windows Authentication selected but returns "login failed... error 18456"
Also tried active directory - password and Active-directory integrated but still same error.
