So, on week 2 of a new job I am handed 2 servers that "fell off a truck" are no longer being used and asked to set up Sharepoint as a document repository. I have used SP before but never installed it and know almost nothing about SQL Server. I have SP 2013 and SQL Server 2012
Server A. HP DL380 G6 - 2, 300GB (currently raid 1 with server 2012 installed) drives and 6, 600GB drives (I have 2 more 600GB drives that I could use to replace the 300GB drives with if need be)
Server B. DL380 G7 - 8, 600GB drives
I am looking for recommendations on setting up the hard drives for SP and SQL to make a happy medium between best practices and best performance/use of space.
I can do one big array or 4 separateraid 1 arrays, or anything in between. I have read that best practice is to set up the SQL database and logs and temp files all on their own...
