I am looking for an affordable or free way to compress SQL Server 2016 Web edition backups, so that we can store backups for longer than a week. I am aware that the Web edition does not natively support this functionality. I saw options like sqlbackupandftp, but wanted to see if anyone utilizes and recommends solutions that do provide this functionality. Unfortunately, our company cannot afford to upgrade to Standard.
