Hi. We have some remote sites that connect to a main office over S2S VPN. Clients in the remote offices use SSMS to connect to SQL servers over the VPN. Users have poor performance / lag within SSMS when connecting to SQL servers over VPN. We are seeing pings show about 100ms latency from client to server over the tunnel. Is there a good target to hit for max latency SSMS client to server can tolerate?
We're considering MPLS or moving the offices to a VDI environment on LAN with servers, but need to explore if latency is or is not the issue first.
