As the last major step in a major conversion from aging Physical Win 2008R2 with similarly aged supportive software to a completely virtualized Win 2012 R2 environment, I am faced with a task that I have never faced before. I've done some Google Fu, but haven't found much about my exact scenario.
I would ask if anyone could offer guidance or point me in the direction of resources describing best practices in this process? I've already stood up MS SQL 2016 on a new VM, and we've started using it, but I know there are some minor changes in syntax (for instance, semi-colons are required in SPROCS and other statements no doubt, which doesn't bother me, but our VB.NET developers hate hehe :)
Also, I'm not sure about the proper procedure to migrate our existing databases. They are not huge in space (400GB maybe,) but contain many...
