I am having a crazy issue with copying a SQL server backup file to network shares. THe backup is orignally created on a VMware 5.1 Vm Windows Server 2012 running SQL 2008R2 native backup to its local drive. The backup is verified when created, and it verifies and restores fine from the local drive. However if I copy it to another server using robocopy or even the windows GUI, it will not restore. I get a RESTORE detected error on page (0:0) almost immediately when starting the restore. I have tried restoring the 'corrpupted' copy to the original SQL server as well as to SQL instance on the machine that i am copying the file to.
Thefile is about50GB, and completes the copy without error, however I have checked the hashes and they dont match!!
Things we tried: Copied it over VPN over the wan using both robocopy, richcopy, and the GUI ....
