Precautions when copying MS SQL Server VM to new storage?

I am getting ready to copy a SQL server that is comprised of three volumes. A root VHD a data VHD containing SQL DB's and it is attached to an iSCSI volume for the log files. The environment is XenServer. In previous VM copies I have had to reactivate MS Windows on the copied VM's as the machine fingerprints change. Will I need to reactivate SQL Server after they copy? Does copying the data files run any risk of damaging the data contained therein? Is there any other dangers in copying a SQL Server that I should be aware of?

Thanks in advance!
