SQL Server 2008 R2 backup is filling the drive

SQL Server 2008 R2 is not my primary responsibility so I have a lot to learn about it. Can someone point me in the right direction - other than off a cliff?

Where in the Management Studio will I find the configuration of the location of where SQL will put its backup job files?

If that question makes sense, you won't need any of this...

My small business customer's SQL database has grown to 146 GB. Every night SQL runs its backup job and stuffs the backup files into D:\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10_50.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Backup and then deletes the backup files from the previous night. I'm guessing that is fairly normal behavior.

Unfortunately, while the new backup file is being built, and before the old backup is deleted, the drive is almost full (the backup database is 136 GB, so two of those is 272 GB). I've looked for other junk to delete...
