I'm setting up a new domain/server/workstations for a client who is ditching their old Server 03/XP systems. Their main application is a custom Access database connected to SQL running on the server. I've installed Server 2014 Express, migrated a test copy of the database and have everything running fine with the Access 2013 runtime on the server. However, I cannot get the damn thing to work on a workstation!
I've opened remote connections on SQL Server, installed the native driver, turned on the SQL Browser service and opened the required firewall extensions. At present I've gotten the ODBC administration panel to detect the presence of the SQL Server (which was a challenge unto itself) and allow me to setup a DSN but when I try to run the Access application it errors out and the ODBC trace log shows a host not found error.
