Is there a software package that can backup the installation of MSSQL(installed registry keys and exe, dll's etc.) and recovery it in case of a disaster.
I'm not talking about doing db restores. Right now we do a new install, and then try to restore the master to tell us the version is off by a Microsoft Security patch (not service pack), we then find that patch apply it, and then restore the master. After that we continue on. We also use replicated dasd from EMC, so the install is basically to just populate the new OS with regkeys etc.
I'm looking for a package that can bundle SQLServer install package on its current patched version with regkeys and be able to restore to new server with the same name in the event of a disaster. Swore I saw a package like this...any help I'd appreciate.
