Hey, Spiceheads.
We had a brownout last week which threw one of my UPS units into overload status, taking down one of my ESXi hosts in the process. On that host is one of our servers (as a Win2k8R2 VM) that hosts one of our 3rd party applications. This application uses SQL to serve data to/from client machines all over the LAN, which uses this 3rd party software.
After the outage, the host came up just fine and so did the VM in question. But now all workstations are experience a SQL connectivity problem, usually dropping them from the database with an error that reads:
"A database error has occurred.
Error code: 999
Error Text: SQLSTATE=08S01
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server
Connection failure"
We have a service contract with the software provider, but they seem to be unable to solve this issue as they think it is a networking problem...
