Before I explain the issue: YES, we are working on retiring our ancient MS SQL 7.0 server. We are replacing the application that depends on MS SQL 7.0. It's a big project, but if we can stay on track the project should be done by the middle of 2015. In the mean time, I need to keep this old beast working!
The issue:
Like clockwork, I need to reboot our MS SQL 7.0 server every Monday morning. The database service is not responsive. Something is happening over the weekend...but I'm not sure what.
Looking at the Event Viewer, early Sunday mornings the following informational entry appears in the Application Log:
"The Scheduler 1 appears to be hung. PSS 0x4C64B108, EC 0x64F10084, UMS Context 0x04E46D28"
This typically starts around 1 AM on Sundays and repeats every minute until I reboot the server Monday morning.
I'm not sure where to start with...
