So we have a SQL server with about 4 DB's on it. It is a Windows 2008 R2 server running on VMware ESXI 5.1, during normal working hours 8-5, it usually runs at around 50% usage. Well since this morning it has been running really high around 80-90%. I have a screen shot below showing the processes that are running and using cpu. As you can see the SQLSERVR processes are taking up most, and they are staying about at that level and maybe a little higher. They don't normally run that high, so I am trying to figure out what is going on. Now I am not a DBA and we do not have a DBA on staff, so bare with me on that. But any tips other than rebooting the server? I can't at the moment because it is in use. But would love to find out exactly what is causing this. No back ups are running, no AV scans are running.
