Hi all
I'm left in a situation were i'm trying to migrate a database from one online host to another. We have a website and files set up on a server at the new server end ready to go. The 'Products' pages of the website are created in a CMS for editing and the purpose of managing orders etc, hence the DB. Theres only a handful of products. The situation is where I could not use the login details they gave me to access the database myself with the hosting provider, it would not connect (using Studio Manager 2008, they said they use 2005 and things are fine), so I asked them to package up a copy of the database for me so we could restore it at this end.
They emailed me a .bak file and I have tried a number of attempts to restore the file to my system, all unsuccessfully. It could be me as I'm not totally familiar with MS SQL as all my websites run on Linux/MySQL.
Does anyone have any ideas or even if you can just tell me that the package they have sent me is a load of tripe and that they need to send it again etc that would be equally as good and put my mind at rest with what I've done so far.
Thanks in advance
