Delete a detached db.. New to SQL

Hello,

I have a SQL Server where I just detached about 1,000 databases. I want to wait a week or two then delete the db's that I detached and are no longer in use.

Do I just delete the .LDF & .MDF files of the detached db's from Windows Explorer?
Is there anything I should know?

Server: MS Windows 2008 R2 64-bit
SQL: MS SQL 2008 R2
