Need a little advice on SQL servers
First off, I'm not the DB admin, I'm the Sys/storage admin. With regular frequency I get requests to increase the size of the log disk. Usually this happens when we take the DBs down for weekly maintenance.Fed up with the continual requests to take up more and more disk space (for logs, I understand if the database is growing and needs more disk space), I decided to inquire as to the current backup strategy. Our stated RTO is 1 hour and RPO is 1 minute (there is log shipping to another SQL server from my understanding)
- Daily Full backups
- Differential backups every 2 hours (during business hours)
- Transaction log backups on Sunday and Wednesday
- We are using Red Gate backup software
The current log disk size is 202GB, which got filled during the last maintenance.
Just looking for some advice on backup...
