SQL Maintenance Plans

Hi there,

We have Windows SBS 2011 Standard running as a domain and email server at a customers office, this is also running a virtual windows 7 machine to act as a CAD vault using Hyper-V, they have recently had some software installed that uses the SQL side of the server.

The company who supplied and installed the software have tried to schedule a backup the database to a .bak file everynight.

They have noticed that some options on the SQL Server Studio Manager, are missing on the MANAGEMENT section under Object Explorer.

The only options are, Data Tier Applications, Policy Management (Disabled), SQL Server logs, and Legacy. We are missing 5 options including Maintenance Plans.

Is this faulty or is it like this as standard? And can we get it to show up there?

Could someone give me some advice on how to get this back.
