I have a client that is looking at a new ecommerce solution that requires SQL Server 2012 Standard. Hey are currently running Server 2012 R2 Essentials. So the first question is can SQL Server Standard be installed and run on Essentials.
The 2nd question would be if it can be run on Essentials can the current hardware support SQL. The current hardware is:
Lenovo TS140 with the Xeon E3-1225 v3 3.2GHz (4 core)
24 GB RAM
OS on enterprise grade Samsung SSD
Date two enterprise grade spinning drives (RAID1)
My thinking to use this box if essentials would support SQL 20012 standard would be to add 2 more enterprise grade SSDs to hold the SQL database.
