We run an app/db server application called Blackboard. I'm running it on Windows Server 2008 R2 and SQL Server 2008 R2. The Tlog was at 27gigs and was usually that size every week so I assumed that that was how big it should be. According to some training I found the full backup was supposed to truncate the TLog but then I discovered that truncate doesn't mean shrink.
We had a couple issues with BB so I contacted their support and they recommend the TLog be kept no larger than 2 gigs. To shorten the story I put it into simple recovery mode and shrank the TLog to 2gigs. I like the idea of taking differential so I then put it back into full recovery and the next day when I came in the TLog...
