Problems between Windows 7 (SP1) & SQL 2008 R2 Server?

Good morning, folks.

Our company has a bespoke database built upon an SQL back-end and presented by IIS. The SQL database itself is hosted on Windows Server 2008 R2 within an SQL Server 2008 R2 instance. The majority of our users have been using Windows XP since the database was initially built around 8 years ago by an in-house developer. However, I'm in the process of migrating users to Windows 7 (SP1) following XP's end-of-life and we've noticed some performance problems with the database when using the Windows 7 clients.

For example, certain queries are taking multiple times as long to complete (if, indeed, they complete at all) on Windows 7 as they do on XP.
