On multiple occasions I have seen it where a server is rebooted or crashes suddenly (Power outage or something like that ) and the MDF files for some SQL databases go missing the physical files are just gone. The Matching LDF files exist still as well. Any ideas why this happens ? I would expect the files to exist and maybe be corrupted but not disappear completely. I have seen this in every version of MS SQL up to 2012 so far.
