So our company has a Dell PE 720 with 32GB RAM runs dual E5-2640's. it has 6 disks two 15K for the OS in RAID1, and 4 15K RAID10.
The majority of the time users are entering data-the server doesn't even break a sweat. The server seems like overkill for data entry.
Only during report time does the server bog down. From what I can see it's the disks that are the bottleneck.
My question is:
1. Can I leave this server as is and relegate it to "data entry" and set up some type of reporting server that can process reports and do that processing on itself?
