BACKGROUND
Created an Azure SQL mirror of on-prem SQL2016 database to sync for reporting purposes..
Details:
Initially set up data sync of the production database with Azure. Worked fine, but slight structural changes that the data sync has to make in the local database “break” certain functions of the CRM application.
As a workaround, we set up transactional replication of the production database (i.e. only the tables/fields relevant to data sync) to a secondary on-prem SQL instance. After verifying that the replication is working correctly, configured Azure data sync with the on-prem database replica.
Result:
The on-prem replication is working solidly and as expected. On the other hand, the hourly Azure data sync shows as succcessful in the Azure data sync log, but it also shows 0 changes, and is clearly NOT picking up all the changes...
