I have been tasked to install SCCM for our environment (about 2000+) computers. I have created a 2019 Enterprise server in vShpere (VMWare). Now I am trying to install SQL on this server before installing SCCM. I have read a lot of documentation regarding this, but where it comes to drive configuration, this varies... a lot.
Some documents suggest four drives ( C:\ = SQL Install, D:\ Database Store, E:\ = Logs, f:\ Tempdb)
Others have suggested as many as 8 drives, including 1 for the pagefile.
I do know they need to be 64k block for drives, except OS...but do the old methods of creating the number of drives really impact performance if everything is running in vShpere utilizing Volume Storage Arrays anyways?
Any recommendations would be helpful.
