I have a question for you. We have a physical Win2016 Standard server running ACT! Premium, which is a CRM. Act uses SQL Express for the database. I'm trying to determine existing disk usage. My plan is to virtualize this server as a VM, and put it on a Hyper-V host. The VM host I am looking at would also be Win2016 or 2019 standard which would run a maximum of two VMs, and have two 2TB sata hard drives in RAID1.
I know that SQL Express is throttled to 1GB of ram, and the performance of the app would benefit from SQL Standard, but that's not on the table at the moment due to price.
Being that I think SQL Express is the actual bottleneck to performance here, not slow sata disks, can I get away with the slow sata disks on the new VM host rather than more expensive SAS drives or SSDs?
