I've got my DBA who is trying to configure our SQL server to send updates for successes/fails for the jobs he's running. He's enabled the mail profile on SQL, and has it configured for outlook.office365.com with the port 587, and authentication with his account name and password, in username@domain.com format.
The issue is, no matter what we try, we always get the message "cannot connect to exchange server".
Are we missing some config somewhere? I configured the email on Spiceworks with identical server and port information, and it works fine.
I found instructions online for setting it up but it wants to create a local SMTP relay, which I don't think I have to do, since I've got other software working fine elsewhere without it.
