I will begin with an introduction that myknowledge on SQL is very poor...
We have a software that use SQL server as her data base. the SQL is installed on a VM (on a cloud) that runs windows server 2008.
I was asked to transfer the databases to a new server in our offices and close that cloud VM.
So I created a VM in one of our servers and installed in it windows server 2016 and SQL server 2016.
The first question is: after I figure it out how to transfer the databases how does the program that uses that databases will know to locate the new databases from the new server? because now in that program (that are installed in many computer here and on clients computers) the "old" IP of that server (the 2008) is marked.
The second question is how to do it? Before i'll shut down that old cloud server I need to do A test. to see if it...
