We have way too many SQL Server Express instances all over our virtual land. Decided it's time to pay for Standard or Enterprise and get some centralized management going.
After getting quotes for 2012 Std and Ent, I'd obviously prefer to stick with Std. The AlwaysOn feature in Ent sounds like it is the real answer to our HA needs. Is that true? Or can I leverage VMware and clustering to achieve something close with Std?
Sorry if I'm way off on my understanding of these things. Just getting my feet wet here. Thanks.
