Hi sorry in advance for dumb questions, SQL server licensing is new to me...
I'm looking to build 2 datacentre hosts one of which will run a hyper-v VM for a SQL Server instance. I want to run several databases in this single instance for the following: sharepoint, dynamics CRM & project server. We have around 40 client machines, maybe 50 AD accounts, but only ever have around 20 simultaneous logins max.
If anyone has any experience they can share about what resources to allocate I'd really appreciate the help - primarily cores (for licensing), but perhaps also ram, disk space + network speed if appropriate.
Each DC host will have 2x Xeon E5-2680v2 (20 x 2.8ghz cores).
If we license per user rather than per core, can we throw as many cores at the VM as needed?
Thanks!
