So I setup a new DB VM a few months back, migrated our old 2008 database into it no issues detected in the first few weeks.
Now it turns out the old application we use had a scheduled task that has old 2008 only SQL code in the executable and I need to move the database back to 2008.
I've done some tests and trials and managed to get the older "test" version of the database downgraded using the "script database" option in ssms and then executing the scripts using sqlcmd.
Problem is the Live DB is 500Gb and even when I script each table as its own object there are some thats 3Gb . I let it run last night at midnight where i hoped no one would be using it and went to bed.
