I wish I had come on to Spiceworks and asked before I did this shrink database as I am now worried I have lost data.
I am not a SQL expert and I am not supposed to be messing around with this, but the company that maintains the SQL Server databases was giving us the run around and we really need to free up space.
So I found a website that explained what to do.
This is what I did. I ran a backup of the databases using our Backup Program Syncrify by Synametrics.
I then logged into Sql Server Management Studio, selected databases and then right clicked the database that I wanted to shrink and selected properties. I then selected Options and changed from Full to Simple Mode, clicked ok.
