I am still getting my feet under me at a new gig, but, am seeing that we have numerous Virtual Servers that are running MSSQL on them with DB's specifically for their apps. I am wondering if it makes sense to make a long term project of consolidating all those databases onto one database server? We have a pretty beefy environment, and are just about done rolling out a DR site at a CoLo 200 miles away. Generally speaking, is it better to consolidate all these little DBs into one SQL server? or leave them alone?
