So my google-fu has come up blank on this one so I thought I'd ask here. We have a production SQL 2012 Enterprise VM running AlwaysON on a single Hyper-V host. It operates with synchronous replication to another local box (physical server) and asynchronously to a remote VM in our colo.
The Hyper-V host that this DB server runs on is not well. The GUI is totally unresponsive and we cannot expand the internal array to add capacity to allow our SQL VM to expand. We need to get this VM onto another host. It's ~3TB in size at about 200gb used RAM.
Because failing over using AlwaysON takes upwards of an hour (we have multiple instances all of which need agent job alterations due to hard coded connection strings etc - the dev team have yet to fix the AlwaysON issues with the application) my plan is as follows:
1. Set up a second Hyper-V...
