Hello Spiceheads,

I am about to replace SQL Server at my organization. We have some budget for an update. I need some advice and insight from you out there about my plans. Currently, we have SQL Server Standard 2012 running on Dell R620 and EqualLogic SAN. In plans, we want to update both hardware and database server.

For the hardware, we what get most of the value to run SQL Server Cluster. Due to SQL Server grows it is clear we must get redundancy for 3 databases (each is about 2TB).

After some research on TechNet and Spiceworks, we consider Basic AlwaysOn AG in SQL Standard, AlwaysOn AG in SQL Enterprise and Failover Cluster Instances in SQL Standard. In the case of Basic AG, we should setup 3 AG to implement required availability. Enterprise license has no such limit but it terms of the price and future perspective is more we need....
