SQL 2012 Always On clean up

We currently have a Windows failover cluster configured with SQL Always on. Originally, it was designed to be a 3 node cluster. Two of the nodes would reside at our primary site while the third node would reside at our remote DR site. As of now, we only have the 2 primary site nodes online that are configured for synchronous replication locally. We need to bring up a 3rd node at the remote site, add it to the cluster, and configure asynchronous replication to this 3rd remote site node.

This is essentially a mess that my team has inherited to fix. The two primary site nodes are production nodes. Our plan is simply to create the third node at the remote site, add it to the cluster, and hope the asynchronous replication just starts working once configured. Is there anything that we should watch out for? This is a production environment...
