How do I move an SQL Express DB to new server

I have an SQL Express 2008 R2 database running on Windows 8. I have setup a new 2012 R2 server that I am installing SQL Express 2012 R2 on and need to move the DB from the windows 8 machine to the new server. Can I just stop the SQL Express instance on the Win 8 machine copy the 2 files with extensions .mdf and .ldf and move them to the new server? If this will not work, how should I go about doing it? Is there a transfer wizard in the Express version? Thanks
