I know that there have been numerous posts on here about memory usage on SQL Server but am at the stage when I rather get a direct answer than try to figure it out from similar posts so please forgive me.
We have a SQL Server 2008 R2 installation running with 32GB of installed RAM. Until recently the server was running really quickly but I have now noticed a definite slow down when accessing things like Microsoft SharePoint and other applications which have databases residing on it.
When I checked Windows Task Manager I noted that Physical Memory Usage was up at nigh on 100%. After speaking to a friend of mine I discovered that the Maximum Server Memory in SQL Server was still sitting at it's default value. This was hastily reduced to 24GB of memory for SQL Server.
