I know this question has been asked million times but each situation is different. I need advice on a Raid configuration for SQL Server 2014. My company just bought a New Dell PowerEdge R530 server with 6 x 300GB 15k SAS Drives, 2 x Intel Xeon 2.4 GHz with 6 cores each.
Proposed RAID configuration:
2 - Disks on RAID 1 for the OS
4 - Disks on RAID 10 for the Databases, TempDB and Log files.
My boss wants redundancy for the database server so I decided to go for Mirroring. We don't have the hardware to go for Clustering or SQL HA with Shared Disks.
We only need the Mirroring service for redundancy purposes, I don't really care about the log file of our database but it is necessary for the mirroring to work. We used to have our database in Single mode.
