The current environment is being hosted on SQL Server 2008, and the space is about 100GB (and of course, thousands of DBs behind it.) It is a cluster of 4 servers, plus 4 web servers in front of them, and a pair of AD servers to string it all together. The really good news is that the entire AD domain will be coming over as well, versus a split solution.
The bad news is that I am a newbie to implementing clusters and pretty much all things MSSQL related.
I need to relocate this entire service, and my "external customers" expect near zero downtime.I'd like to hear how people have used "replication" in this situation, versus "mirroring." I am choosing replication, as the staging environment could be relocated in advance, as a dry run or proof of concept.
Is it horribly painful?
Terrifyingly simple?
Is there a better way to migrate locations...
