I will be installing a database server soon that will have multiple databases, and I need it to be high availability. Should I use clustering or mirroring ? I know that a mirror will need to be set up separately for each database, and ideally also have a witness server. But a cluster should do all of this with two servers, right ? A cluster will also have a single IP address, so if one server fails then the systems that are pumping data into the databases won't have to be reconfigured.
But is this the right route ? What are the relative advantages of mirroring ? Simpler to use ?
