Not A DBA

Hey Spiceheads,

As the title sez, not a DBA, but still tasked with troubleshooting performance issues with one of our SQL servers.

SQL 2008 installed on server 2008R2, HP Proliant DL380 G6, 72 GB of RAM, 15K RPM disks, 8 hyperthreaded cores. The systems overall health is good, and the task manager indicates the machine is under no pressure, using less than 10% CPU on average.

The application is Microsoft Dynamics RMS, and it runs abysmally slow for my users, while Great Plains 2010 installed on the same server, has no issues.

Looking in the SQL Activity Monitor "Recent Expensive Queries" I frequently see queries listed that have no actual queries and no execution plans. This only occurs on the RMS DB (DB1) and not the GP DB (DB2).

What do these blanks suggest ?
