I have been asked by someone at another site about SQL 2000. I am not really that familiar with SQL however, I did use some of my allotted January Googles to check on the answer to her questions but, I would love to ask some experts before I run out of Googles and have to wait until February.
Here is what she asked; Her SQL 2000 database is running out of space, does that mean she should look into an upgrade to 2012? Now from what I can see, the database can be expanded (understanding that was 16 years ago). I also see that SQL 2000 can not be upgraded to a later version than 2008 and she would have to go to 2008 first and then from there a newer version.
Is that what you SQL experts suggest, as well? Do you have thoughts on this as to how complicated these type of changes can be? Is this upgrade a challenge?
