Encrypting SQL Standard DB with bitlocker ????

Hello sw SQL gurus,

So the paranoia that is caused by being in IT has led me to think about encrypting our SQL db's. Done some searches and it seems the best option for SQL Standard encryption is to use bitlocker. I understand that bitlocker protects the data at rest and not someone from the inside already with access from taking something. Part of the concern is ensuring that in case the network is compromised from the outside that whomever copies the db files can't do anything with them.

The sql server is running 2008r2 with sql 2012 and it's a hyper-v guest. The DB's reside in the C:\ drive (I know, blasphemy). With bitlocker is it possible to encrypt only the folder that contains the DB's or is it all or nothing?

Now encrypting might cause more headaches than needed, but what about the 3rd party applications that access the db's? Does...
