This is what we do with our old SQL 2000 Server and I want to know if it is still possible and legal with SQL 2012.
We have a PRIMARY Server that is fully licensed running all of our SQL databases and has Software Assurance.
We have a SECONDARY Server that is a copy of the PRIMARY Server. On the Secondary Server all databases are in a LOADING state. Our CMS supplier provides a 3rd party piece of software that backups and restores the log files every 15 minutes from the PRIMARY to the SECONDARY Server - They have also confirmed that their software works with SQL 2012.
The SECONDARY Server will only become ACTIVE if there is an issue with the PRIMARY Server.
The Database files a stored locally as we do not have a SAN or the budget for one.
