Attempting to setup a MySQL server in the following environments to test out the speed MariaDB in a virtual machine environment. I'm venturing off a bit into the unknown with this one. I don't know much about databases aside from the basic concepts. Currently we have two VM's with 4GB's of memory and 200 GB hard drives. I would really like to know if these system requirements will handle an 40GB database alright. I want to go with one windows 2012 machine, and one CentOS machine and compare the performance of both. I am looking for any suggestions as far as resources and any bit of information the community can offer. I almost forgot to mention the server will also be running Squid Cache Web Proxy.
