My eyes are going screwy from all the forums and how to guides I've been mulling over. But just wanted to reach out to the community to get some experienced opinions.
DB01 W2003x86 Server with SQL 2008 SP1
DB02 W2008x64 Server with SQL2008 SP1
I believe that because the server is fully accessible with all components operating, I should be able to do:
1. backup of all the databases (13) , copy the backups off DB01, shut down DB01
2. rename DB02 DB01, restore the backup databases.
3. carry on.
No need to worry about orphaned users because the backup should carry over everything needed (except for passwords possibly).
Am I simplifying the process too much?
But seriously, I read so much and I feel it shouldn't apply because we are not doing any conversions.
