Hi guys, ok first off my SQL knowledge is somewhat limited so please be patient.

We purchased a practice last month and I am kind of flying blind. Not much information was handed off to the IT team.

I have a few DB's I am trying to back up to send to our software developer and I know what instance I need to login to from looking at SQL configuration manager. But it won't let me login. Once I tried logging in with 2012 I would get a login error. (May be the username and password idk, as I said what we were given was very limited.)
